1 figure represents 1 (or a few) individual(s), or a single (small) vehicle or artillery piece. Heavy weapons, or rapidly moving or large vehicles are off-table or treated as terrain.
In the standard version of Bayonet, each pair of bounds lasts for about 2 s, during which figures move a few inches on the table.
Multiple, previous versions of the rules have carried on into the current version: Bayonet ++ was designed for a more highly paced, cinematic style of game and still forms the bulk of Bayoney_10.
Each pair of bounds lasts for about 10 s, and figures move around 10 inches. This is the scale and timing of the pre-firearm Skirmish rules.
In an attempt to keep some realism, automatic fire and repeating weapons enjoys some increased Combat Factors.
[Bayonet + is an intermediate version with each pair of bounds lasting about 5 s, ½ Skirmish movement, and slightly increased Combat Factors for automatic weapons. It is indicated by square brackets.]
Bayonet ++ [and +] is otherwise identical.
Figures are also unchanged, except for different movement, some different rates of fire and the Combat Factor modifiers for automatic / repeating fire.
Bayonet_10 is an updated version of Bayonet ++ designed for use with figures in the 10mm (1/144 to 1/150) range. All measurement is in cm rather than inches and subsequent rule updates are indicated by brown text.
